I think more could be done regarding the homeless issue in Colton. Though they are concentrated to the main streets, there have been countless times when my kids have come back inside because homeless are walking through the neighborhoods. There have been times when they have stopped in my driveway and made my family feel unsafe. My daughter once came home crying because a group surrounded her car at night when she was leaving a fast food restaurant, and one member exposed himself to her.
There are abandoned homes and buildings that we could maybe use to house them and create programs that would help turn them into “productive members” of society again? There should be a team dedicated solely to reducing and improving the homeless condition in the city. There should be a record kept of those entering homelessness, actively homeless, and exiting it. The team should focus only on understanding and improving this issue.
Improving this would make the city look better overall.
