Lighting Rebates
Commercial Lighting Retrofit / Improvements Rebate Program
The City of Colton Electric Utility Department will provide rebates to its Commercial and Industrial Customers who install Lighting Efficiency Improvements that reduce the Utility's peak electric load.
Lighting may account for up to 40% of the total energy use by some businesses. By updating lighting systems it may be possible to reduce the energy use for lighting by as much as 60% without compromising lighting quality. The benefits of a good lighting system are lower utility costs, increased productivity, better quality control, sales stimulation, more effective security, and improved safety. Many lighting changes can have a payback of less than a year.
Eligibility

Rebates are provided for the following product list:
- Efficient Fluorescent (converting T-12 to T-8, or T-5)
- LEDs (UL/DLC certified)
- Optical Reflectors

Rebates are based on a kilowatt-hour (kWh) savings for the first year only. Rebate amounts are $0.10 per kWh. The rebate is not to exceed 50% of the total materials and equipment costs, not to exceed $50,000.
