About the City Manager’s Office

The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to implement and maintain the City Council’s goals and objectives, policies and priorities.  The City Manager is responsible for developing and recommending programs to ensure the economic development and financial vitality of the City; manage and coordinate the development of the City’s annual budget and preparation of the agenda for the City Council; oversees the preparation of the City’s long term capital improvement plans and financing strategies; and administering the day-to-day operations of the City.

The City of Colton is a general law city operating under the “Council-Manager” form of government.  A general law city is one which operates under the laws and rules established by the State of California.  The City Manager is a full-time professional manager, and also serves as the chief legislative advocate on issues of major significance to the City (such as the Delhi Sands Flower-Loving Fly, Per Chlorate Water Contamination, 3-5 Storm Drain Funding, Funding for Major Projects, etc.).
