Residential Photovoltaic Rebate Program

The City of Colton’s Residential Photovoltaic Rebate Program  Is NOW CLOSED (11/17/16)!  Applications will be accepted for a wait list only. 

Program funding is limited and rebates will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.

Rebate amount was $1.59 per watt up to a maximum of 3kW.  The maximum incentive any one customer can receive is $4,770.00.  Rebates are provided for only new installations.  Adding additional panels to an existing installation does not qualify for a rebate. 

In order for a system to qualify for the rebate the Utility must approve the system prior to moving forward. All projects must be approved by the electric utility before applying for a permit. Systems should be sized accordingly to the current customer electric use. Installations for future electric use will not be permitted. 
 

GUIDELINES for 2016/2017:
  • Applications MUST be submitted by the residential customer. Applications will not be accepted directly from the vendor. 
  • A copy of the CSI Standard PV Calculator output report must be included.
  • Applicants should include a completed Energy Disclosure Agreement.
  • Participation is the City of Colton's Residential Energy Audit Program is mandatory. (Customers will be signed up when they submit their application)
  • A copy of the single line drawings and site plans need to be included. The system size should be listed in both the DC and AC ratings on the SLD.

In order to install a system within the city you must comply with all permitting procedures. Please visit Development Services, Building and Planning Division for solar permitting forms.
 
Upon completion of the installation and prior to going live with the new photovoltaic system, customers must submit two signed copies of the Net Metering Agreement with a Single Line Diagram attached in order to interconnect with the City of Colton Electrical grid.
