Electric Bill Assistance
The City of Colton Electric Utility offers a Low Income Assistance Program for income qualified customers. The program will assist customers with adding additional kilowatt hours to the first tier level charges.

To qualify, customers must meet the income levels listed below based on the number of occupants living in the household: (revised income levels as of July 1, 2016)

Number in Household  Gross Annual Income
 1 or 2  $32,040
 3  $40,320
 4  $48,600
 5  $56,880
 6  $65,160
 Each additional member, add   $8,320

This year is the final year of phasing the low income assistance program to a monthly assistance program, rather than once annually. We no longer will be providing one time annual credit to customers. This format allows us to help all customers equability, all throughout the year, rather than once annually.

For 2016/2017 fiscal year, customers will be provided a Tier 1 allotment increase of 139 kWh. This brings the tier from 250 kWh to 389 kWh each month for 12 consecutive months from the date of  approval.

Customers must show proof of income for everyone in the household over 18 years of age. If an individual in the household does not have proof of income, please submit verification from the Social Security office stating no income for that individual.  If there is a student over the age of 18 without income, you must submit proof of current registration (i.e. class schedule, BOG wavier, or current transcripts).  Qualification is based on the combined gross annual income for all members in the household over 18 years old.
