THE POSITION |
|
Under general supervision, provide instruction in a latchkey/school age program at selected elementary schools in the Colton Joint Unified School District or a State Preschool Program. |
|
|
|
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
|
|
|
|
|
Education and/or Experience:
Must possess a high School Diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) core semester units or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, recreation and/or elementary education from an accredited college or university. Six (6) months paid experience as a Teacher in a licensed child care facility is required, including 50 days of 3+ hours experience per day within the last two years. |

License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license. Possession of, or ability to obtain upon hire, a Child Development Teacher’s permit. Possession of, or ability to obtain upon hire, CPR and First Aid certification.

Knowledge of:
Education, recreation and social needs of children from pre-school to school age. Objectives and philosophy of a child development program. Must possess excellent skills in teaching, leadership, communications, and motivation. |
|

|
Ability to:
Communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Be self motivated and able to initiate activities. Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities desirable. Must be culturally sensitive to the needs and interests of minority families. |

Skill to:
Operate a motor vehicle on City streets. |
