THE POSITION |
|
Under supervision, types documents from dictation and other sources in a rapid and accurate manner. May perform limited clerical duties and data entry. |
|
|
|
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
|
One year of general clerical experience is highly desirable. |
|
|
|
Education and/or Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Enrollment in, or completion of, an accredited Court Stenographer's course. |
|
|
|
License/Certificate:
Possession of a valid class “C” California Driver’s License. |
|
|
|
Knowledge of:
English usage, including spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and
punctuation. Record keeping and filing methods. Stenography machine operation. Personal computer operation. Modern office procedures, including business letter writing and report preparation.

|
|
Ability to:
Type accurately on stenography machine at or above the rate of 140 words per minute. Utilize city and department standard computer software. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain
effective and professional working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Learn, understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures. Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
