Having been born and raised in the City of Colton, Vincent Yzaguirre has a healthy perspective on the issues facing District 3. Specifically, issues that include improving public safety, the eradication of blight and the need for economic development which produces revenue and jobs and helps the City provide the quality amenities and services that our families need and deserve.
His family moved to Colton in the early 1920’s where his great-grandmother, Flavia, settled near the base of Mt. Slover. His grandfather, Vicente, worked in the California citrus groves and built his home on “M” Street. His parents, Raul and Frances Yzaguirre, continued on with the American Dream by purchasing their home on Rialto Avenue. Vincent always reflects on how blessed he is to have such great parents.
Vincent is a product of the Colton Joint Unified School District (CJUSD) where his sister, Cathy Segura, now teaches students at Lincoln Elementary School. Through the years, Vincent attended Lincoln Elementary, Colton Middle School and graduated from Colton High School. He continued his education and graduated with honors from the University of Redlands obtaining both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business & Management. His education and professional success is credited to the perseverance and determination of his family, especially from the lessons of his late father Raul who suffered most of his life with a neuromuscular disease Mysthenia Gravis. Though this disease kept him from fulfilling some of his lifetime dreams, Raul’s continued positive outlook on life, his community and his children was an inspiration to all.
Following the principles and values of his father, Vincent proudly boasts of being a father of two sons, Vince and Anthony. Currently both of his boys attend California State University in San Bernardino with Vince pursuing his degree in Business Finance with an interest in real estate and Anthony pursuing an English Literature degree with an ever-increasing passion for writing books.
Professionally, Vincent is the Deputy Director of Real Estate for the County of Riverside and is working on projects that include a major District Attorney’s office tower, a 10 acre Sheriff’s Station that will serve five communities in the Coachella Valley and a major homeless multi-service center in Palm Springs. He has also worked as a private sector real-estate developer, a broker and as a business manager and has worked on commercial public and private projects throughout California.
Vincent previously worked as Vice-President and Area Manager of Vanir Development Company. At Vanir he worked in the City of Colton on the Downtown Redevelopment Project, known as the Dominguez Plaza, which includes the Hampton Inn and Suites and the popular Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant. In another local project, he assisted the CJUSD with a number of land and facility needs which benefited the Colton community.
As a member of the Colton City Council, improving the quality of life in and around the City of Colton is at the forefront of Vincent’s goals and objectives. He is a strong advocate for the development of quality and affordable senior housing, a sports complex for our families and the phased expansion of the Colton Civic Center which one day will include a new library and emergency service center and new City Hall.
Vincent believes that Colton families deserve the quality amenities and services that other cities enjoy. He will continue to provide and share his experience and vision for improving the quality of life in Colton.
